1. Ability to identify and evaluate technology resources and technical assistance (i.e., those available on-line and on-site within a school and district setting). My previous experience with twitter was one that exceeded my expectations. Before my previous course, I only used twitter as a personal social media account. However, adding another account used for professional development, allowed me access to world famous educators and life-long learners of the education world. Other than Instagram, I have found that Twitter is the easiest way to communicate and grow as an educator in the digital world.
2. Ability to assess advantages and limitations of current and emerging technologies, on-line resources and software to facilitate teaching and student learning. Twitter allowed me to communicate with other educators and discussion boards whose goals were academic success for their students. I found that the resources were cutting edge and always the most recent. A lot of times, it's difficult to prioritize your time in order to find the newest and innovative ways to educate. However, Twitter makes it easy to find ideas and to stay current in the educational world.
3. Ability to engage in professional growth and leadership activities, including modeling lifelong learning by participating in face to face and online learning communities to continuously improve professional practice using existing and emerging digital tools, resources, and current research that focuses on I improved student learning, as well as promotes professional development of other educators. Many of the professional development opportunities that are offered to me have a presence on social media. Twitter has given educators the means to connect and learn more about online courses and virtual trainings. Twitter allowed me to gain access to digital tools and research based ideas that I could easily implement into my classroom. During my last course, I was encouraged to engage in professional talk with others on twitter. This action allowed me to collaborate with other educators who had similarities and differences from me. Inducting this type of partnership allowed me to growth my professional development "folder."
